Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin which is thought to mobilize blood flow in order to promote healing. Using silicone cups for suction, the skin is gently drawn upwards by creating a vacuum over the target area. The cup stays in place for five to fifteen minutes, and/or depending on the reason for treatment, can be slid across the skin and is known as "Glide Cupping". This is a great alternative for individuals who don't enjoy deep pressure, but need deeper work. It is believed to help treat pain, deep scar tissue, connective tissue, muscle trigger points, and swelling.
